A list of restaurants during travel. Emphasis on plant-based restaurants.
Red Radish
301 Hayes St, San Francisco, CA 94102
www.eatradradish.com
The Rosemary Grove with white vermouth, grapefruit, Prosecco, and soda, and the Mango Tango with white vermouth, mango, lime juice, and Prosecco were delicious and added some fun to the meal.

Tried the Chilaquiles with just egg, black beans, pico de gallo, avocado and parmesan cheese, and the Vegetable Scramble with plant based eggs scrambled, asparagus, peas, onions, kale. Included crispy breakfast potatoes and arugula with cherry tomatoes & onions. Both dishes where tasty, but wasn’t anything to rave about.
The thing about this restaurant (and seems to be the trend) is you sit down, order through a QR code or kiosk and then somebody brings the food to you. No opportunity to use cash (which I was trying to use before leaving for Europe). Just was an impersonal experience.
Koffie ende Koeck
(Coffee and Cake)
Haarlemmerweg 175
1051 LA Amsterdam
www.koffieendekoeck.nl
Cute little coffee shop with all vegan food and desserts. Enjoyed the chickpea frittata (with oyster mushrooms, herbs, and black salt) served with dollops of mayo and an arugula salad with green olives and sun dried tomatoes. The carrot cake was a nice touch to the meal. Selected this place because it was a nice walk along this green belt area near where I was staying. Off the beaten path as far as tourist areas, but along the way to Central Amsterdam.

The Breakfast Club
Changiweg 110, 1043 DZ Amsterdam, Netherlands
www.thebreakfastclub.nl
Vegan Breakfast Burger
Vegan burger (Beyond), vegan brioche bread, vegan cheese, pickles, lettuce, vegan mayo, and tomato.
Tried this and and was wondering what made it “breakfast.” I don’t think it made a difference what time of day it was, it was still a burger. But it was a good burger!
Avocado Toast

Harissa spread, mesclun (salad mix), avocado, dukkah (an Egyptian and Middle Eastern condiment consisting of a mixture of herbs, nuts, usually hazelnut), leek sprout, and sweet/sour onions.
I thought the avocado toast was very good. The combination of the dukkah and sweet/sour onions was very tasty.
Here you can get breakfast and a Heineken on draft at 8am! Not to say that’s what I did, but the possibility existed.

HipCityVeg
127 S 18th St, Philadelphia, PA www.hipcityveg.com
Had to try the Vegan Philly Cheesesteak and it was out of this world! The Kale Lemonade was really good, too.

Cute little breakfast/brunch place! Had a really good vibe and people were very nice. Food is great and I highly recommend it!

Álef Burger Bar
R. do Compromisso N1, 8000-252 Faro, Portugal
Had a fantastic vegan burger from here. Fries were incredible, too! Wanted to stop again, but the were closed on Sunday.
Restaurante True Food
R. do Compromisso 12, 8000-252 Faro, Portugal
Tried their True Food pizza with pesto, organic tomato, caju, basil, spinach, lemon, olives, rucola, and purple chard. Very tasty and the crust was nice.

Haus Hiltl
Sihlstrasse 28, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland hiltl.ch
The world’s oldest vegetarian restaurant, founded in 1898.
The food is incredible with so many flavors. Everything tasted amazing! You can order off the menu, get food by weight, or the all you can eat option. I got the all you can eat option which was 63 CHF.

Palo Verde Bistro
Žitná 45, 110 00 Nové Město, Czechia paloverdebistro.cz
I ordered the Svícková – nase svícková s rostlinným tenderloin steakem (a traditional Czech tenderloin steak with creamy root vegetable sauce and dumplings). It was hard to believe that it was plant-based because the “tenderloin steak” really did seem like steak. The wait staff did say that they didn’t make it in house but purchased it from a third-party. The dumpling seemed like a large white roll, but was useful for scooping up the creamy root vegetable sauce.
