I’ve declared today as Laundry Day. Two days of rest at the AP Eva Senses hotel to warm up from the Netherlands.
But first, the free continental breakfast on the 5th floor. Now this is not your free banana, muffin, and toast kind of American continental breakfast, they go all out here! Lots of choices!

After breakfast, I found a nice little laundromat (Wash & Plus – Lavandaria Self-service) – €5 wash (includes detergent) and €2 dry. Very clean and efficient the way the machines are connected to a central payment machine and the machines automatically dispense detergent (no need to add any).

After laundry and doing some walking around, I am going to spend some time to get caught up on emails and my blog.

What is my impression of Faro? It’s got some nice little streets with restaurants and shops. It also has some not so nice streets mixed in between. Granted that I didn’t get much further than the harbor area, so I can’t say what the rest of the city is like. Overall, I never felt like there was any danger – just guys hanging out, drinking beer and talking loudly. One guy offered me any choice of illegal substances and I said no thanks and he muttered some profanity. The waiter across the street apologized as I was walking by for the scene.

It’s a gritty city and I am ready to move on after a nice recharge! I am thinking Lagos, Portugal for my next stop.
