Today we are going to travel the canal between the west end of Walensee and Zurich lake – by a paddle board and an inflatable rubber duck! Lisa and Manuel will be on the paddle board and I will be kicking it back in the rubber duck! It’s about a 10.5 (17 km) mile journey. It’s all downstream with some rapids in a few spots. It’s a beautiful day today and we have the whole canal to ourselves, since it’s officially off-season (temperatures drastically dropped two days later).

Then disaster strikes! I have to answer the call of nature, so I climb out of the duck and flip it over, spilling the contents, which includes my prescription sunglasses. I’m trying to flip the duck and keep up with the current. I manage to get back inside. Other disaster that is brewing is I only put sunscreen on my upper body. More on that in next day’s post!

We finally get to the end of the canal, but since the current has stopped, the duck is dead weight. All three of us get on the paddle boat and do a balancing act all the way to shore.

We take the train back to the west end of Walensee lake and back to the car. Time to head home to get ready for dinner at Fabian and Carolina’s flat. I made a chickpea salad and Lisa made a tiramisu. We had a wonderful five-course meal and the food that Carolina prepared was amazing! After dinner we played board games.

It’s getting close to my bus trip to Munich and we need to get back to Manuel’s house so I can start packing for my 1:10 am bus ride. I’m starting to feel the sunburn on my legs.

I feel so relaxed just looking at the three of you floating down the canal!
I was feeling super relaxed until I tipped the duck!
