Day 1 – Rough Departure

Because of weather at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport, my flights have been rescheduled to a crazy itinerary of a flight to PHX, a red-eye to Philadelphia, a 12-hour layover, and then an overnight flight to Paris. Haven’t been to Philadelphia before, so here is an opportunity to explore the City of Brotherly Love. One way to look at it. 🙄

Last year’s trip was a smooth journey from SFO TO LHR. This year is just a strange series of mis-starts:

  • Almost left my cellphone on the charger at home.
  • Called AA for help getting on a different flight that was delayed because of weather at DFW. They put me on a cancelled flight.
  • Problems with AA mobile app trying to reschedule my delayed/cancelled flights.
  • TSA agent didn’t give my passport back and had to ask for it.
  • Carry-on was held up at security because of some protein bars.
  • Carry-on had to be rescanned but was held up by four groups of people who all brought liquids on their carry-ons, including one guy who had six canisters of psyllium husk.

I scheduled my trip to be out of the country before Election Day (yes, I did vote early before I left), but now, ironically, I will be stuck for 12 hours in Philadelphia, PA, the city where both presidential candidates are spending the bulk of their day.

Made it to Phoenix at 7:20 pm and then flew out of Phoenix at 11:30 pm for the red-eye to Philadelphia, arriving at 6:00 am on Tuesday local time.
