Day 10 – Prague/Geneva

Today I get ready to leave back to Geneva. I am sad I didn’t get to spend more time in Prague, but will return to explore in more detail. I thought the Grandium Hotel Prague was nice, modern and close to a lot of city attractions. I would stay here again.

Bathroom in my hotel room.

Getting to the bus terminal is an easy five minute walk from my hotel. I am taking the Airport Express to the airport.

There are ticket counters within the bus terminal that will sell you a ticket for 100 Kč ($4.86). The Airport Express bus is the fastest and most direct option. The bus loads outside where the FlixBus dropped me off.

The Václav Havel Airport Prague is very nice, modern, and clean.

I go through the usual security checks and pass through the metal detector with no problems. I am waiting for my backpack to go through the x-ray. The conveyor belt is stopped on my bag and I am thinking great, what got flagged in my bag? Turns out one of my straps got stuck in the conveyor belt. They pry it loose and my bag is back in my procession. I quickly gather up the rest of my items from the security bin, while they try rebooting the conveyor. Meanwhile the x-ray line has ground to a halt. I’m not sticking around to see what happens.

Saw this car in the airport. This is the brand that Manuel drives and I was really impressed with it. It had a lot of modern features, a nice sound system, and a very reasonable price! Saw a lot of these cars in Switzerland and it’s a Chechen made car!

Saw this in the airport and it cracked me up for some reason! Aka, a salad bar?! 😂
My plane getting to leave for Geneva.

I board the plane with no issues and it’s a quick one hour flight to Geneva.

Arrive in Geneva and catch bus #57 from the airport to the Meyrin municipality outside Geneva. Meyrin is where the main site of CERN, the European particle physics research organization is located. Meyrin was originally a small agricultural village until the 1950s, when construction of CERN began just to the north.

I am staying at the Auberge des Vergers hotel. I am not quite sure what to make of this place yet. Nothing negative, but hard to explain the surrounding area. If you’re ever seen Eureka (the 2006 TV series), it has that sort of vibe.
